Last year I bought a Cub Cadet 2185, I think it's about a 1994 model, with a 48' deck. Nowhere can I find a bagger for this tractor with this size deck. Has anyone ever modified another bagger to fit this tractor and deck? I don't know what the difference that other baggers won't fit it. Thanks in advance for any responses.

The 48" was not considered a vacuuming deck. There is a assisted unit avilable for it that uses a 5 horsepower Briggs to be sure that it works that is offered for 1299. There were no grass catchers offered for that model. Getting to that price you are close to being able to have a trailer unit that would be able to fit more mowers with just the purchase of the boot. ....

What if I got a different deck? I believe they made a 44" for this tractor. Did they make a bagger for that deck and 2185 combo? ....

They make a rear mounted triple bagger for a 44" deck. I use one on my older model 1864 Cub. I'm somewhat disappointed with it. It plugs quite easily when mowing damp/green grass. Another option is a tow behind lawn sweeper. That would be the cheapest alternative. I only mow once a week and early rapid spring growth is too much for the bagger. I'm usually forced to mow first without the bagger and then go over it with the bagger connected when the grass gets real tall. My schedule doesn't allow me to mow ever 3-5 days. It definitely works good for leaf collection in the fall. You may be able to pick up a used deck on e-bay. ....

Another comment about the different decks. You will find that the 48" full floating deck disperses and broadcasts grass clippings over a large area from the chute. If you go with the 44" high-Vac deck and choose not to bag, the deck chute doesn't disperse the grass clippings much and puts them more in a row. I really hate that, since then you need for sure to pickup the clippings somehow. ....
